From the Boston Globe via The Hill:
Tagg Romney on his father, Mitt, running for President. “He wanted to be president less than anyone I’ve met in my life. He had no desire to … run. If he could have found someone else to take his place … he would have been ecstatic to step aside.”
With that in mind, what do you look for in a Presidential candidate?
There are a few key things I look for in a leader. Character plays a big role and it absolutely should. I look for a leader who remains unwavering in their principles, and their principles should be traditional American, Western principles. It is a major turn-off when their voting record is inconsistent, like Romney’s. To me, it is vital that they share a vision of American exceptionalism and that they possess the fundamental philosophy that our Founders did. Personally, I find military experience attractive for the position.
One quality that I cannot stand is indecisiveness. I greatly admired Tim Pawlenty for years, but when I read his book Courage to Stand before he ran for the presidency, I was turned off by his wishy-washyness. I need to see a potential president as a strong, competent leader.
